Common Questions

Do I need a FIDE rating to enter? +

No — unrated players are welcome in the Congress and Holiday U2000 sections. Your games will count towards establishing a FIDE rating. The International Masters section is by invitation or rating qualification.

How do I get to the Isle of Wight? +

The Isle of Wight is accessible by ferry from Portsmouth (Wightlink & Hovertravel), Lymington (Wightlink), and Southampton (Red Funnel). We recommend booking ferry travel in advance, especially for the main tournament weekend.

Is accommodation included? +

Accommodation is not included in entry fees. There are a range of hotels, B&Bs, and self-catering options in and around Ryde. Contact us for a recommended list.

What is the prize fund? +

Prize funds are announced closer to the event. In 2025, prizes were awarded across all sections. Full details will be published in the tournament regulations.

Can I withdraw after registering? +

Withdrawals and refund requests should be made by email. Refunds may be available up to the stated deadline. Half-point byes can be requested for any round with sufficient notice.
